Kakkanad, Kerala, March 18, 2025: The Kakkanad Unit of the Kerala Catholic Youth Movement (KCYM), in collaboration with Fitness Kochi, organised Walkathon 2025 in Kakkanad on March 16, 2025, to celebrate Women's Day. Held under the theme "Walk for Health, Walk for Change," the event witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 90 women, ranging in age from seven to seventy-five years.
KCYM Kakkanad Unit President Ajon C. Pius presided over the event, which kicked off with an energetic Zumba session led by Sangeetha Jagan and Linu Kevin, setting an upbeat tone for the day. The walkathon was then officially inaugurated by 2017 Asian Powerlifting Championship gold medallist Mary Beena Stevenson and parish vicar Fr. Joseph Thattarassery, who jointly flagged off the walk.
Several dignitaries graced the occasion, including Assistant Vicar Fr. Sunil Mudavassery, KCYM Verapoly Archdiocese General Secretary Rose Mary K.J., Vice President Arun Vijay S, KCYM Kaloor Zonal President Amal George, Secretary Amruth Barid, KCYM Kakkanad Secretary Ryan Varghese, Treasurer Samson Joseph, Women's Forum Convener Treesa, and Walkathon Coordinator Sam. Several KCYM executives and unit representatives also attended, reinforcing the community’s commitment to women's health and empowerment.
The event’s central message, "Let every step be a leap forward towards a better tomorrow," resonated deeply with participants, underscoring the power of collective action in driving positive social change.
Walkathon 2025 was not just a celebration but a powerful statement—advocating for health, inclusivity, and progress—one step at a time.
