Inter-Religious Christmas–New Year Meet Held in Mysuru

Mysuru, Dec 29, 2025: An inter-religious Christmas and New Year gathering was held at SANMAARGI, the Bishop’s House in Mysuru, bringing together leaders of various faiths to promote peace, harmony and shared human values.

The programme included prayers, lighting of a ceremonial lamp, scripture readings and brief reflections from different religions, highlighting themes of love, compassion, justice and peaceful coexistence.

Addressing the gathering, Bishop Francis Serrao of Mysore said humanity must take precedence over religious, caste or community divisions. Referring to the Christmas crib, he said it symbolises inclusiveness and universal love, and called on people to build bridges of fraternity and peace in society.

Participants also observed a moment in remembrance of Mahatma Gandhi and offered prayers for peace in the nation and the world ahead of the World Day of Peace. The event concluded with a vote of thanks to all attendees.
