Mysuru, Dec 29, 2025: Bishop Francis Serrao of Mysore, in his Christmas message, called on people to celebrate the festival as a time of peace, fraternity and renewed humanity, rooted in humility, compassion and unconditional love.
Reflecting on the Incarnation, the Bishop said God revealed divine love through simplicity and humility in the birth of Jesus at Bethlehem, affirming closeness to humanity, especially amid suffering, injustice and brokenness. He said the true meaning of Christmas lies not in outward celebration but in inner transformation, peace of heart and compassionate relationships.
Warning against excessive commercialisation and superficial observance, Bishop Serrao urged people to move beyond selfishness and empty ritualism, and to embrace forgiveness, justice, equality and mutual respect. He stressed that believers have a responsibility to uphold human dignity and promote harmony across religious, cultural and social differences.
Concluding his message, the Bishop prayed that Christmas may bring peace, healing and hope to families and society, inspiring a renewed commitment to the common good in the New Year.
