Alamelarangapuram, May 12, 2026: In a spirit of reflection and renewal, priests of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Vellore gathered at Sneha Deepam, Alamelarangapuram, for the fourth batch of their Ongoing Formation Programme held on May 4 and 5. The initiative offered clergy a meaningful opportunity to deepen their spiritual lives, strengthen emotional resilience, and renew their pastoral commitment.
The programme, centred on the theme “Psycho-Spiritual Integration: From Burnout to Cherishing,” addressed the growing need for holistic well-being among priests engaged in demanding pastoral ministries. Through interactive sessions, guided reflections, and moments of shared experience, participants were invited to confront the realities of burnout while rediscovering the grace and joy inherent in their vocation.
Animating the sessions, Fr. Suresh Raj OFM Cap led the clergy through reflections on inner healing, emotional balance, and spiritual growth. His inputs encouraged priests to cultivate deeper self-awareness, foster a more intimate relationship with Christ, and approach their ministry with renewed clarity and pastoral zeal.
In his inaugural address, Bishop Ambrose of Vellore called on the clergy to nurture their vocation through prayer, self-care, and dedicated pastoral service. Emphasising the sacred nature of priesthood, he described it as “a journey rooted in communion with Christ,” urging priests to face moments of fatigue and struggle with faith, openness, and trust in divine grace.
The programme saw active participation from a large number of priests across the diocese, including key diocesan leaders such as Msgr. M. John Nicholas, Fr. Richard, Fr. N. T. Irudhayaraj, Fr. Jegadhis, and Fr. Lua Thomas. Their presence underscored the diocese’s ongoing commitment to the formation and well-being of its clergy.
Set in a calm and prayerful environment, Sneha Deepam provided a fitting backdrop for priests to step away from the demands of daily ministry and reconnect with their mission through fraternity and contemplation. The programme concluded with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, leaving participants spiritually enriched and pastorally invigorated.
Through such initiatives, the Diocese of Vellore continues to affirm the importance of fostering emotionally balanced, spiritually grounded, and pastorally effective priests in service of the Church and society.
