Feast of St. Monica Celebrated at Jaipur cathedral

Jaipur, Rajasthan, Sept. 6, 2025: The Feast of St. Monica was celebrated on Sunday, August 31, at Our Lady of Annunciation Cathedral in Malviya Nagar, Jaipur, with a solemn Eucharistic celebration. Members of the parish’s Women’s Commission organised the Mass under the guidance of parish priests Fr. Melwin D’Souza and Fr. Siby Mathew.

The celebration commenced with all mothers from the parish entering the cathedral in a solemn procession, followed by readers, altar servers, and priests. All the mothers were warmly welcomed and seated in the front rows of the cathedral.

The introduction to the Mass highlighted the patience and perseverance of St. Monica, who is regarded as the patron saint of mothers. Fr. Siby Mathew celebrated the Holy Mass, while Fr. Melwin D’Souza delivered a homily connecting St. Monica’s life to the contemporary role of mothers. Fr. Siby acknowledged the service, commitment, and dedication of all mothers present towards their families. He also encouraged all children and youth present to honour their parents and always speak the truth. Special prayers were offered for all mothers, and members of the Women’s Commission distributed St. Monica bookmarks to each mother present.

Following the Mass, members of the Women’s Commission organised a health check-up camp to promote the well-being of parishioners.

The celebration not only honoured St. Monica but also served as a heartfelt tribute to all mothers belonging to the parish. Members of the faithful expressed their gratitude to the Women’s Commission, the priests, and all volunteers for organising the Mass and health camp. They also reiterated their commitment to participating in upcoming parish events.
