CRI Gulbarga Elects New Leadership Committed to Synodality

Gulbarga, August 11, 2025 — The Catholic Religious India (CRI) meeting for the Gulbarga Diocese brought together approximately 92 participants for a significant gathering focused on leadership and collaboration. Fr. Roshan SJ led the opening prayer, followed by a welcome address from Fr. Maxim.

Bishop Robert Miranda’s inspiring talk, complemented by a message from the CRI President, set a motivational tone for the meeting. Diocesan priests, along with the Bishop, were honoured and congratulated in remembrance of the feast of St. John Marie Vianney, patron saint of priests, celebrated on 4 August.

The meeting marked the election of the new CRI executive team and zonal representatives, reinforcing the Diocese’s leadership structure. The newly elected diocesan executive includes Fr. Ronald CSC as President, Sr. Mariyamma SJT as Secretary, and Sr. Lydia Cutinha UFS as Treasurer.

Fr. Vincent Pereira, the resource person, shared insights on synodality, emphasising that it can become a vibrant reality in Gulbarga Diocese through deep listening, involving youth and families as partners, patiently navigating challenges, building faith-filled communities, and working collaboratively in mission.

Bishop Miranda celebrated Holy Mass with concelebrating priests. In his homily, he urged all to listen attentively to God’s word, keep God at the centre of their lives, live with gratitude, and serve both God and the poor with love.

Former President Fr. Maxim discussed the Action Plan focused on KRCR priorities. The Treasurer and Secretary presented their reports, and the CRI Team was formally felicitated for their contributions.

The newly elected leaders were greeted warmly by members, each receiving a rose as a symbol of unity and commitment. The gathering closed in an atmosphere of optimism, with participants exchanging farewells over tea — a fitting end to a day that combined prayer, fellowship, and decisive steps towards strengthening synodality in the Diocese.
