Constant Lievens Hospital & Research Centre Marks 10 Years of Dedicated Service in Ranchi

Mandar, Ranchi, Nov 22, 2025: Marking a significant milestone in Jharkhand’s healthcare landscape, Constant Lievens Hospital & Research Centre celebrated 10 years of service to communities across the State and beyond.

Serving as a key moment during the celebration, the hospital’s newly built OPD block and dialysis unit were inaugurated and blessed jointly by Archbishop Mar Andrews Thazhath of Thrissur and the President of the CBCI, Archbishop John Rodrigues of Mumbai, and Archbishop John Moolachira Guwahati.

In his homily, Archbishop John Moolachira highlighted the hospital’s remarkable journey—from humble beginnings to a modern healthcare and research facility that has touched thousands of lives over the last decade. The Holy Eucharist was presided over by Archbishop Victor Henry Thakur of the Archdiocese of Raipur and concelebrated by several other bishops and archbishops.

Describing the hospital as a dream project of the late Cardinal Telesphore P. Toppo and a proud initiative of the CBCI, Chief Guest Mar Andrews Thazhath, noted its tremendous growth within a short span. He further expressed hope that the hospital would soon flourish into a full-fledged medical college. He also emphasised that Christian values of service, teaching, and uplifting the poor and sick continue to make a transformative impact: “We do not look at colour, caste, or religion; we offer selfless service in the spirit of nation-building.”

Bishop Anand Jojo of Hazaribag praised the hospital’s rapid progress and the collaborative support from all stakeholders. He acknowledged the committed services of the Medical Mission Sisters and the MSFS Congregation. Recalling the motto of Servant of God Constant Lievens—“Fire must burn”—he encouraged everyone to remain dedicated with hard work, goodwill, and positive energy.

Applauding the fulfilment of a great dream, government representative and Minister Shilpi Neha Tirkey expressed confidence that, like St. John’s Medical College in Bengaluru—the first medical institution of the CBCI—Constant Lievens Hospital will soon become the second medical college under CBCI leadership.

The celebration also featured cultural performances and a display on the hospital’s history, further highlighting its strong bond with the community.

Among those present were Fr. Jesudas, Director of St John’s Medical College, Bengaluru; Fr. Shaji George, representing the MSFS Congregation; Fr. Joseph Marianus Kujur, SJ; and several other priests. Doctors, nurses, hospital staff, well-wishers, and community representatives also joined the celebration.

Over the past decade, Constant Lievens Hospital has expanded its departments, introduced advanced diagnostic services, and strengthened its outreach programmes, especially for the poor and marginalised. The management expressed deep appreciation for the dedicated service of the medical and support staff who continue to carry forward the hospital’s mission. On this milestone occasion, the institution reaffirmed its commitment to the legacy of Fr. Constant Lievens—the “Apostle of Chotanagpur”—to offer healing with dignity, compassion, and excellence.
