Consecrated Life Day Observed with Reflection and Renewal in Karwar Diocese

Karwar, Feb. 16, 2026: Religious sisters, brothers, and priests from the Kajubag and Kone deaneries of the Karwar Diocese gathered at St Joseph College, Karwar on February 15 to celebrate the Day of Consecrated Life, marking a moment of shared reflection and renewed commitment to their vocation.

Held under the theme “Called Once, Lived Daily,” the observance highlighted consecrated life as an ongoing response to God’s call, expressed through prayer, service, and fidelity in everyday ministry. The gathering drew a large participation from both deaneries, underscoring unity within the diocesan religious community.

In his reflection, Fr Stany Pinto drew from the Gospel of John, emphasising that vocation begins with God’s initiative and is sustained through daily renewal. He encouraged consecrated men and women to live their calling with perseverance, trust, and joyful service.

The celebration was presided over by Bishop Duming Dias, who acknowledged the often unseen yet significant contributions of religious communities in nurturing faith and serving society, particularly among the marginalised. He noted that shared moments of prayer and encounter strengthen fraternity and sustain missionary zeal amid contemporary pastoral challenges.

The programme also included recognition of participants in organised activities, with Bishop Dias presenting awards that reflected the spirit of encouragement and communal joy that marked the gathering.

Expressions of gratitude were conveyed by Fr Ireneo Dias on behalf of the clergy and by Sr Alfonsa, President of the Conference of Religious in India (CRI) at the diocesan level, representing the religious community. They emphasised collaboration, mutual support, and the importance of communion within the Church.

Organisers said the observance served as a reminder that while the call to consecrated life is received once, its witness is lived daily through enduring commitment in the service of the Church and society.
