Christians and Social Activists Rally Against Anti-Conversion Bill in Jaipur

Jaipur, 7 October 2025: The United Christian Forum of Jaipur, in collaboration with social activist groups, organised a public gathering at Shaheed Smarak, opposite the Commissioner’s Office in Jaipur, on Sunday, 5 October, to express deep concern over the Anti-Conversion Bill currently awaiting the Governor’s approval in Rajasthan.

The peace rally drew over 1,000 participants, including Christians from various denominations and social activists from other faiths. Their collective prayers and peaceful presence marked a historic demonstration of faith, courage, and solidarity. Together, participants voiced their support for justice, peace, and the constitutional right to freedom of religion, maintaining a spirit of prayerful protest throughout the event.

Leaders from diverse religious communities also shared their concerns regarding the bill, emphasising the importance of harmony, mutual respect, and freedom of belief in a democratic society. The event was graced by Bishop Emeritus Oswald Lewis of Jaipur and Rector of Maria Sadan Minor Seminary, who spoke to the media about the apprehensions of the Christian community.

A memorandum signed by nearly all attendees was submitted to the Governor of Rajasthan, urging him not to grant his assent to the bill. A second memorandum was handed to the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, calling on the state government to uphold constitutional rights and respect all religions.
