Chhattisgarh, May 23, 2026: A believing Christian family in Sofiras village under Gondpalli Panchayat in Chhattisgarh has reportedly been left homeless after their house was allegedly demolished by villagers, raising serious concerns over safety, religious freedom, and constitutional rights.
According to information shared by Progressive Christian Alliance, the incident involved the family of Jagannath Bhai, who allegedly faced severe hostility and opposition from villagers. The house was reportedly demolished on Thursday, forcing the family to stay under a tamarind tree after losing their shelter and belongings.
Reports further stated that the family was warned not to continue living in the village and allegedly threatened with further assault and violence if they remained there. Concerns have also been raised over the family’s safety, as they are understood to be the only Christian family residing in the village.
Progressive Christian Alliance described the matter as “deeply concerning” and called for immediate attention to ensure the safety, protection, and constitutional rights of the affected family.
