Chikmagalur, August 5, 2025 — The Diocese of Chikmagalur organised a one-day Liturgical Seminar for its clergy at Spoorthi Sadana on 4 August 2025. Centred on the theme “Directives and Guidelines in the Liturgical Celebration,” the seminar aimed to enhance the understanding and practice of liturgy among the diocesan clergy.
The resource person for the seminar was Rev. Dr. Rudolph Pinto, OCD, Secretary of the Commission for Liturgy of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI). With his deep theological knowledge and rich pastoral experience, Fr. Pinto delivered clear, structured, and practical insights into the latest liturgical norms. He carefully contextualised these guidelines within the pastoral life of the local Church, helping the clergy to apply them effectively in their daily liturgical celebrations.
The seminar saw active participation and engagement, with clergy members sharing experiences and seeking clarifications during the interactive sessions. The gathering served as a meaningful occasion for the priests to renew their commitment to celebrating the liturgy with greater reverence, authenticity, and pastoral sensitivity.
In his concluding address, Most Rev. Dr. T. Anthony Swamy, Bishop of Chikmagalur, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Fr. Rudolph Pinto for his enlightening and pastoral input. He urged the clergy to remain faithful, creative, and responsible stewards of the Church’s liturgical life.
The event was coordinated by Fr. Anil Lobo and Fr. Alwyn Joe, from the Commission for Media and Communication, Diocese of Chikmagalur.
