Delhi, February 24, 2026 — Caritas India formally launched its Lenten Campaign 2026, titled “Together for Peace, People and Planet,” on February 22 at Sacred Heart Cathedral following the celebration of the Holy Mass.
The campaign poster was unveiled by Anil Joseph Thomas Couto in the presence of clergy, parishioners and beneficiaries. The launch highlighted Lent as a time to translate faith into concrete action through peace-building, social justice and ecological responsibility.
The 2026 campaign addresses three pressing concerns—fractured relationships, widening inequality and the ecological crisis. Inspired by Pope Leo XIV, the initiative calls on communities to promote peace, uphold human dignity and care for creation through collaborative action.
Organisers also highlighted the impact of the CHETANA Disability Campaign, which has reached more than 10,500 individuals through awareness programmes, assistive support and initiatives promoting inclusion. Support from Federal Bank Ltd facilitated the distribution of advanced motorised wheelchairs, enhancing mobility and participation for persons with disabilities.
Through the Lenten Campaign 2026, Caritas India reaffirmed its commitment to faith-driven service that responds to social and ecological challenges while standing in solidarity with vulnerable communities.
