Tiruchirappalli, February 26, 2026: In a pause from routine academic demands, around 750 hostel students of St. Joseph College participated in a one-day seminar on “The Purpose of Life” conducted by the Capuchin Brothers on February 22, inviting young people to reflect on meaning, values, and personal direction.
The programme combined talks, anecdotes, and interactive discussions that encouraged students to look beyond academic achievement and material goals. Speakers underscored the importance of remaining rooted in prayer and learning to move with “the time of God rather than the timing of our own,” highlighting trust in divine providence as a source of clarity amid pressure and uncertainty.
Participants engaged actively throughout the sessions, with many describing the reflections as both moving and practical for daily life. College authorities observed that while St. Joseph College maintains a strong academic tradition, initiatives of this nature reinforce its commitment to integral formation by nurturing students’ spiritual and personal growth.
The seminar reflected the Capuchin Brothers’ ongoing apostolate of accompanying youth in their search for purpose, offering a space for discernment that complemented campus life with renewed perspective and inner focus—very much in line with the faith-formation themes you’ve been covering in recent diocesan reports across India.
