Mysuru, Karnataka, 22 November, 2025 : The Little Sisters of the Poor community in Mysuru welcomed Dr. Francis Serrao, SJ, Bishop of Mysore, as he presided over a special Jubilee Year Holy Eucharistic celebration. The Bishop was received with deep gratitude by the Provincial of the Bangalore Province and the Superior of the Community, who honoured him and sought his spiritual guidance in their mission of caring for the elderly and the infirm.
In an uplifting homily, Bishop Serrao urged everyone to prepare spiritually to receive the Lord with sincerity and openness. Addressing the elderly residents with warmth, he offered a moving reflection on life’s final journey. He reminded them that while health, possessions, and even friends cannot accompany a person at the end of life, the soul — often neglected — remains the one companion that journeys into eternity. He encouraged the faithful to nurture their souls through prayer, faith, and trust in God, especially during this Jubilee Year of grace.
Following the Mass, Bishop Serrao visited each elderly resident personally. He interacted with them affectionately, enquired about their well-being, and offered individual blessings. He also presented a small token of love, bringing visible comfort and joy to the residents.
The Bishop expressed deep admiration for the unwavering commitment of the Little Sisters of the Poor, acknowledging their dedicated ministry to the aged, the poor, and the abandoned. He encouraged the Sisters to continue their mission with joy, compassion, and perseverance.
The visit concluded with heartfelt gratitude from both the Sisters and the residents for the Bishop’s presence, his inspiring message, and his personal outreach. The day became one of renewed hope, spiritual encouragement, and profound joy for the entire community at the Little Sisters of the Poor Home.
