Bishop James of Kohima Appeals for Meaningful Observance of Communio Sunday

Kohima, 30 October 2025: Bishop James Thoppil of Kohima has called on all parishes, institutions, and families in the diocese to celebrate Communio Sunday with deep faith, unity, and generosity.

“May Communio be more than just a collection. Let it be a heartfelt expression of love — a visible sign of our unity and care for one another,” Bishop Thoppil said in his message to the faithful.

He urged everyone to mark the day in a meaningful way by organizing special prayer services or Holy Hours, helping the faithful—especially the youth—understand the vision and goals of Communio, encouraging generous contributions for missionary works, and sharing inspiring stories of faith from mission areas.

“May this Communio journey draw us closer to one another and to God as one faith community, bound in love and service,” the Bishop added. He said that such participation would strengthen the Church in India to become more self-sustaining, dynamic, and mission-oriented.

Entrusting the mission to the intercession of Mary, Star of Evangelization, Bishop Thoppil offered his blessings and prayers to all. He also shared special resources to help parishes and families celebrate Communio Sunday with renewed zeal and commitment.

Communio Sunday is observed across India to support mission activities, pastoral outreach, and faith formation in dioceses and regions with limited resources, fostering a spirit of solidarity and shared responsibility among all the faithful.
