Bible Quiz Sparks Scriptural Revival at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Majiwada Thane

Thane, February 23, 2026 — A renewed focus on Scripture is taking root at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Majiwada, Thane, where parishioners recently concluded a three-month Bible Study programme on the Gospel of Luke with a day-long fellowship featuring a parish-wide Bible Quiz.

The structured study initiative, launched by Parish Priest Fr. Christopher Pereira and facilitated by Deacon Everest Mascarenhas, drew consistent weekly participation of 40 to 50 parishioners, according to Catholic Connect. The programme aimed to deepen participants’ engagement with Scripture through systematic reflection on the Gospel narrative.

To mark the completion of the study cycle, the parish organised a fellowship programme centred on biblical learning, community interaction, and shared celebration. A Bible Quiz Competition, featuring 15 parish communities, formed the highlight of the event. Conducted across three rounds, the contest assessed scriptural knowledge, teamwork, and quick recall.

The Infant Jesus Community secured first place, while the St. Theresa of Child Jesus Community finished as second runner-up and the St. Valentine Community placed third runner-up. Organisers noted that the strong performances reflected careful preparation and growing enthusiasm for biblical study within the parish.

Building on the momentum, the parish has launched a new Bible Class on the Gospel of Matthew, again led by Deacon Mascarenhas. More than 60 parishioners have already registered, signalling sustained interest in structured Scripture learning.

Parish leaders say the initiative is part of a broader effort to strengthen biblical literacy and nurture a more Scripture-centred parish life through participatory formation and community engagement.
