Archdiocese of Imphal Inaugurates Jubilee Year 2025 for Kuki-Zo Community Amid Manipur Crisis

Manipur, January 22, 2025: The Archdiocese of Imphal inaugurated the Jubilee Year 2025 for the Kuki-Zo community with a solemn celebration in Lamka, Manipur on December 29. Despite the ongoing regional crisis, the event focused on unity, renewal, and hope.

Two inaugural Masses were celebrated—one at Imphal Cathedral, led by Archbishop Linus Neli, and another at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School in Lamka, presided over by Archbishop Emeritus Dominic Lumon. Father Mark Thang Khan Ai introduced the theme of the Jubilee Year during the Lamka celebration, which began with the hoisting of the Jubilee flag by Archbishop Lumon, symbolizing a year of grace and renewal.

A procession followed, carrying the symbolic Jubilee crucifix to Good Shepherd Parish Church, where a solemn Holy Mass was celebrated. Lumon blessed water during the liturgy, symbolizing spiritual purification, while the parishioner-led choir elevated the Mass with hymns.

In his homily, Lumon emphasized hope, inspired by St. Paul’s teachings, reminding the faithful that hope in Christ endures despite challenges. Reflecting Pope Francis’ call for the Jubilee Year, Lumon urged the community to embrace prayer, reconciliation, and renewed faith, highlighting God’s mercy and the importance of pilgrimage, prayer, and acts of mercy.

Coinciding with the Feast of the Holy Family, Lumon encouraged families to emulate faith, love, and holiness. He called parents to be stewards of God’s gifts and witnesses of Christ’s love in the world.

The event concluded with a collective commitment to making the Jubilee Year a transformative spiritual journey, bringing hope and renewal to the Kuki-Zo community in times of crisis.
