Archdiocese of Bombay Celebrates Jubilee Year With The Differently Abled

Mumbai, November 17, 2025 — Nearly 300 children, adults, and families from across the Archdiocese of Bombay came together for Together We Shine – Celebrating Abilities and Beyond, an inclusive faith event organised by the Commission for Faith Formation. The gathering highlighted the Church’s commitment to honouring the dignity, gifts, and contributions of persons with diverse abilities.

The day began with the Holy Eucharist at the Mount Mary Basilica, Bandra, presided over by Archbishop John. The liturgy was animated by participants with special needs, reflecting the synodal spirit of participation and inclusion that shaped the entire celebration.

Together We Shine was conceived by Archbishop John in collaboration with the Friends of Jesus Programme for children with special needs, as part of the Jubilee Year theme Pilgrims of Hope. The initiative aimed to bring families together, celebrate abilities, and strengthen supportive faith communities.

Following the Eucharistic celebration, families gathered for a fellowship event that fostered interaction, joy, and a strong sense of belonging. The atmosphere affirmed that each person is a reflection of God’s love, and that a community flourishes when every individual—regardless of ability—is welcomed, valued, and embraced.

The event reaffirmed the Archdiocese’s dedication to inclusivity, compassion, and hope, offering families a meaningful space where abilities were celebrated and differences became a source of unity.
