Ranchi, August 31, 2025 — St. Albert’s College Ranchi marked its College Day on 30 August in honour of St. Albert of Louvain, its patron saint. The day began with Holy Mass officiated by Fr. Manoj Vengathanam TOR, Minister Provincial of St. Francis of Assisi Province, Ranchi.
Fr. Manoj, in his homily, urged students to focus their ambitions on God’s kingdom. “Let your ambitions be Kingdom-centric, i.e. ambitions-kingdom. Priestly life without prayers and spiritual direction is like salt without saltiness,” he said. The Holy Mass drew city fathers, religious sisters, well-wishers, and seminary staff.
The celebrations gained vibrancy with the much-awaited College Cup 2025, a football match between the theology and philosophy departments. Chief guest Fr. Dr. Selva Raj inspired the players with his words: “Football match is not retaliation, so play it with diligence and brotherhood.” The contest ended in a 2–2 draw, with both teams declared joint champions and sharing the College Cup.
Later, the Cultural Eve brought together knowledge, creativity, and entertainment in the college auditorium. Fr. Ajay Kumar Xaxlo, the Rector, extended a warm welcome to the distinguished guests. The chief guest, Dr. Vincent Aind, Chairman and Archbishop of Ranchi, applauded the students’ performances in value-based skits and cultural dances. He highlighted the significance of local traditions, saying, “Local cultures help us communicate to the global cultures. That’s why our Chotanagpur culture is unique in many ways.”
The cultural programme featured spirited performances and conveyed meaningful messages, blending both educational and entertaining elements. The event was anchored by Bro. Anthony Barla from the Tezpur Diocese and Bro. Ajay Dang from the Simdega Diocese.
The day concluded with Bro. Jaiman Kerketta from the Port Blair Diocese proposing the vote of thanks, acknowledging the contributions of organisers, participants, and supporters. The College Day celebration ended on a joyful note with a sumptuous meal shared by the Albertian family and guests.
