Kottayam, 25 February 2025 – The 21st National Conference of the Conference of Diocesan Priests of India (CDPI) is being held from 25-27 February at the Vimalagiri Pastoral Centre, Diocese of Vijayapuram, Kerala. Organised in the context of Pope Francis’ Jubilee Year 2025, the event focuses on the role of priests in supporting marginalised and displaced communities.
Established in 2001 under the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI), CDPI serves as a platform for parish priests across India. The CCBI, the fourth-largest episcopal conference in Asia, oversees 132 dioceses, 24 archdioceses, and over 200 bishops, serving more than 18 million Catholics nationwide. The annual conference provides priests with spiritual and pastoral guidance to address contemporary challenges.
This year’s theme, “Priests—Beacons of Hope for the Marginalised and Displaced People of God,” highlights the struggles of communities affected by displacement, environmental degradation, and socio-economic inequalities. Priests are called to stand as advocates and organisers, ensuring the Church remains a source of hope.
Objectives of the Conference
1. Examine biblical, theological, and pastoral approaches to offering hope in times of suffering.
2. Analyse the socio-economic impact of current development policies on marginalised communities.
3. Address challenges faced by clergy and civil society organisations in supporting displaced populations.
4. Encourage priests to engage in advocacy and grassroots initiatives.

6. Develop an action plan incorporating the Jubilee Year theme, “Pilgrims of Hope.”
