Agartala, 10 October 2025 – The 10th Agartala Diocese Youth Convention, themed “Pilgrims of Hope,” was held from the 2nd of October to the 5 October 2025 at St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Pathaliaghat, under Bishramganj Parish. The Agartala Diocese Youth Commission, led by Fr. Lawrence Darlong and Fr. Derrick Augustin, organised the event, which saw 1,300 youth from 25 parishes attend.
The convention began with a ceremony where Bishop Emeritus Lumen Monteiro CSC and Fr. Babu Stephen SDB hoisted the Convention Flag, joined by priests, religious, and youth leaders. Youth and dignitaries released lamps into the sky, symbolising hope. Bishop Monteiro, Fr. Stephen, and Ms. Dolly Reang delivered messages urging the youth to spread hope.
The following days included sessions on youth life, faith and mission, with group discussions and sharing circles. Daily Rosary, Confession, Eucharistic Adoration, and Masses, supported by parish choirs, strengthened faith. The Bible Quiz and Homily Preaching Competition allowed youth to showcase talents and deepen Scripture knowledge.
Mr. Pradyut Kishore Manikya, Maharaja of Tripura, addressed the youth, encouraging dignity and hope. The event closed with a Mass led by Bishop Monteiro and concelebrated by priests, leaving a mark on participants.
Fr. Lawrence Darlong’s team managed the event, with St. Xavier’s providing a suitable venue. The Agartala Diocese Youth Commission thanked priests, religious, volunteers, benefactors, and collaborators for the success.
Fr. Babu Stephen SDB
