Mysore, August 21, 2025 – The Diocese of Mysore marked World Youth Sunday with a vibrant and faith-filled gathering at St. Mathias’ Auditorium, bringing together 185 young people from various deaneries for a day of prayer, fellowship, and celebration.
The event began with the solemn reception of the Jubilee Cross by Bernard Moras, Archbishop and Apostolic Administrator, who then presided over the Holy Mass. The liturgy set a spiritual tone for the day, uniting the youth in thanksgiving and reflection.
In his homily, Archbishop Moras offered a deep reflection on the Jubilee Year theme, “Pilgrims of Hope”. He reminded the youth that they are not simply the future of the Church but its living present, with an essential role in carrying forward Christ’s mission. He urged them to draw actively from the spiritual and pastoral resources of the Church to strengthen their faith and to serve society with commitment and love.
A special Jubilee message followed, encouraging participants to walk together as missionary disciples, rooted in prayer, mission, and community life. The programme also wove in faith-centred activities, including the Rosary, games, and lively animation sessions. These moments not only nurtured devotion but also built bonds of friendship, reinforcing unity among the young people.
One of the most memorable highlights was the celebration of Archbishop Moras’ birthday. Youth participants expressed their affection through songs, prayers, and heartfelt wishes, turning the occasion into a true moment of family spirit within the diocesan community.
Following the spiritual and formative sessions, the youth shared lunch and refreshments provided by the Diocese. This time of fellowship offered space for dialogue, joy, and communion, strengthening the sense of belonging to one diocesan family.
The gathering concluded with the youth committing themselves afresh to their calling as “Missionary Disciples of Hope” in the Church’s Jubilee journey. Their enthusiasm and active participation reflected the vitality of the youth apostolate in the Diocese of Mysore.
The celebration not only marked World Youth Sunday but also stood as a significant step in nurturing the faith of the younger generation. With their renewed zeal, the young people affirmed their place as pillars of hope, service, and witness in both the Church and wider society.
