Veneration of Regional Youth Cross Held at Jowai Diocese

Jowai, 7 April, 2025: The Veneration of the Regional Youth Cross (RYC) took place on 5 April at St. Theresa’s Cathedral in the Diocese of Jowai, Meghalaya, drawing around 150 young participants from various parishes. Diocesan and parish youth leaders welcomed the regional team and Shillong DEXCOs with a rally leading to the cathedral.

The celebration of the Holy Mass presided over by Bishop Ferdinand Dkhar of Jowai, and concelebrated by Fr. Lawrence Paswet, Diocesan Youth Director (DYD). Sr. Sooki Ruphina Nongrum, Diocesan Youth Lady Animator (DYLA), led the Way of the Cross. The day continued with Eucharistic adoration and a felicitation ceremony.

Mr. Huimingum Jonah Chitung, Regional Youth President, delivered an encouraging address to the youth, while other regional leaders in attendance included Mr. Jaunt P. Bora (Treasurer), Ms. Indi Mary Sutgna (Liturgy Secretary), and Mr. Alex Mulat (REXCO Member).

The regional team conveyed sincere gratitude to the Jowai Diocesan Catholic Youth Ministry (JDCYM) for their warm hospitality and the successful organisation of the event.

The gathering strengthened the spirit of unity and faith among the youth, marking a meaningful step in their spiritual journey.
