Vatican, Dec 31, 2025: More than 3.17 million faithful participated in papal audiences and liturgical celebrations at the Vatican during 2025, according to data released by the Prefecture of the Papal Household.
The figures show that a total of 3,176,620 people were present at General, Jubilee and special audiences, liturgical celebrations, and the recitation of the Angelus with the Pope over the course of the year.
Between January and April, the number of Vatican events remained limited due to the ill health of Pope Francis. During this period, 262,820 faithful visited the Vatican. Of these, 60,500 attended eight General and Jubilee Audiences, 10,320 participated in special audiences, 62,000 were present at Masses, and 130,000 gathered for the Angelus prayer.
A sharp increase in participation was recorded following the election of Pope Leo XIV on May 8. From that date onwards, 2,913,800 visitors were counted at papal events. Attendance included 1,069,000 faithful at 36 General and Jubilee Audiences and 148,300 at special audiences.
The data further indicates that 796,500 people took part in liturgical celebrations, while 900,000 faithful gathered in St. Peter’s Square for the Angelus. Participation in the Marian prayer reached its highest level in December, when 250,000 people prayed the Angelus with the Pope.
October emerged as the month with the largest overall attendance, with nearly 200,000 faithful present at liturgical celebrations and around 295,000 participating in General and Jubilee Audiences.
