St. Rita’s Church, Tumakuru, Marks Jubilee 2025 Celebration with Procession and Eucharistic Mass

Kunigal, February 18, 2025— St. Rita’s Church, Kunigal, marked the Jubilee 2025 celebration on February 16 with a grand procession and Holy Eucharist, filling the parish with a spirit of festivity and faith.

At 5:30 PM, Auxiliary Bishop Joseph Susainathan led the faithful in a solemn procession from St. Rita’s Church to the altar, accompanied by parishioners from all nine parishes of the deanery, along with nuns, parish priests, and religious priests. Young children performed a dance as part of the celebration, adding a joyful touch to the occasion.

During his sermon, Bishop Susainathan urged the congregation to reflect on three key questions: What have I done in the Church as a pilgrim of hope? What am I doing now as a pilgrim of hope? And what will I do in the future as a pilgrim of hope in the Church?

A well-organised Eucharistic celebration followed, drawing nearly 330 attendees from different parishes of the deanery. At the conclusion of the Mass, Bishop Susainathan presented mementos and certificates to catechism children and honoured Golden Jubilee couple Alphonse and Chowramma for their milestone wedding anniversary.

Recognising contributions to education, the bishop felicitated three award-winning teachers—Mrs. Ephresia Philomena D’Souza, Mr. Sunil Kumar and Mr. Hurdayakumar

He also honoured 28 catechism teachers and nuns for their dedication to nurturing faith among children and youth.

Following the celebration, all attendees were served food, generously sponsored by the Sa Ra Dominic Priya family. 

Parishioners, the Parish Pastoral Council, the Parish Finance Committee, SMMI sisters, youth, and choir members collaborated with Parish Priest Fr. Michael Menezes, SMM, to ensure the event’s success.

Bishop Susainathan, along with priests, nuns, and parishioners, praised the meticulous organisation of the liturgy, choir, and hospitality. The event concluded at 9:00 PM, leaving the faithful spiritually enriched and united in hope.
