Ranchi, October 25, 2025 — St. Albert’s College, Ranchi, organised its Annual Seminar on the theme ‘Awakening the Indigenous Soul’ as part of its academic curriculum for the first semester. The event, held in the Auditorium, commenced with a prayer song and brought together faculty, staff, and students, especially the third-year theology students who took a leading role in the presentations and coordination.
Dr. Suman Kumar Ekka welcomed the gathering, emphasising the importance of reconnecting with indigenous culture and identity. He reminded participants that while modernity often distances people from their roots, the richness of indigenous wisdom continues to offer valuable insights into harmony, spirituality, and community life.
Throughout the seminar, participants explored various dimensions of indigenous theology through scholarly paper presentations. The discussions reflected on how the Kingdom of God embodies values of love, justice, and unity within indigenous communities; how Vatican II reaffirms the universality of salvation and the inclusion of all cultures in God’s plan; and how indigenous ecological wisdom resonates with the biblical concept of stewardship, underlining the sacred bond between humanity and creation. The final segment addressed the prophetic role of indigenous peoples, highlighting their struggles for justice and liberation as expressions of divine revelation and faith in action.
Moderated by Bros. Klementa Digal and Jibin Sebastian, the sessions were marked by active participation, thought-provoking questions, and deep theological engagement. The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks by Fr. Prabodh Boliar Singh, who commended the presenters and organisers for their dedication and insight. The event ended with the Seminary Anthem, symbolising unity and shared purpose.
The Annual Seminar 2025 at St. Albert’s College stood out as a meaningful academic and spiritual exercise, inspiring renewed pride in indigenous identity while integrating faith with cultural and ecological awareness.
