Ryan Mendonsa Takes Charge as New Diocesan YCS President in Mangalore, Karnataka

Mangalore, Karnataka, July 6, 2025: Ryan Mendonsa from Holy Spirit Church, Mukka, has assumed office as the new Diocesan President of the Young Christian Students (YCS) during the Diocesan Annual General Body Meeting held at Urwa Church Hall, Mangalore.


The ceremony was presided over and inaugurated by Fr Jeevan Sequeira, Administrator of Father Muller Charitable Institutions (FMCI), with Mr. Anson Nazareth, YCS YSM National President, serving as the chief guest.


During the event, Fr. Jeevan Sequeira felicitated eight students—Jennica Sania D'Souza (Cascia), Vinola D'Souza (Kasaragod), Rania Ferrao (Ranipura), Ashna Ferrao (Ranipura), Aashna D'Souza (Ferar), Ranil D’Souza (Fajir), Brsiton Mario Rodrigues (Cordel), and Vilona D'Cunha (Ujire)—for their remarkable achievements.


Dr. Mona Jacqueline Mendonca delivered a session titled Filtered Reality: The Dark Side of Social Media. The Holy Eucharist was celebrated by Fr. Roshan D’Cunha, Director of YCS YSM Mangalore.


The concluding programme commenced at 2:00 p.m., graced by Fr. Donald Nilesh Crasta, Administrator of Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital, and Mr. Santhosh Dsouza, President of Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh.


The outgoing Executive Committee conducted the proceedings, with Vijay Dsouza sharing his experiences on behalf of all Council Members. Deyon Saldanha, President of YCS Mangalore Diocese, welcomed the gathering, while Blanola Dsouza, Vice President, proposed the vote of thanks. Riyona Flemisha Lobo presented the Annual Report.


Melroy Dsouza served as compere for the programme. Fr. Antony Clany D’Souza, the Election Commissioner of the Year, conducted the handing-over ceremony, and Fr. Roshan D’Cunha led the oath-taking.


The outgoing Diocesan Executive Committee was honoured with certificates. Fr. Jeevan Sequeira, joined by other dignitaries on the dais, released the YCS Annual Magazine Yuvatare.


The programme was organised by a team comprising Diocesan Animator Mr. Ruben Dsouza from Bajpe, Diocesan Coordinator Mrs Janet Pinto from Gurpur, and the DEXCO team. The event concluded with the YCS/YSM Anthem.
