Varanasi, April 22, 2025: A group of 59 clergy and religious from the Shahabad deanery of Buxar diocese made a Jubilee pilgrimage to St. Mary’s Cathedral in Varanasi on Sunday, April 21. The group comprised 20 priests, one Jesuit brother, and 38 religious sisters. The pilgrimage was organised to mark the Jubilee Year and deepen the participants' spiritual journey.

The highlight of the pilgrimage was a solemn Eucharistic celebration presided over by Fr. Francis Palli, Dean of Shahabad deanery. Concelebrants included Fr. Charles Isaac Sah, Vicar General of Buxar Diocese, and Fr. Anil Benet Cruz, the Jubilee Coordinator of Buxar Diocese. During the Mass, the congregation prayed for the repose of the soul of Pope Francis, following the sombre announcement of his demise.

After the Eucharist, the pilgrims paid a visit to the Bible exhibition housed in the cathedral’s basement. The exhibition offered a reflective and enriching experience, adding depth to the faith journey of the participants. The group then gathered at the Bishop’s House for fellowship and refreshments.

The pilgrims expressed heartfelt gratitude to Fr. Augustine K.J., Parish Priest of St. Mary’s Cathedral, and Fr. Thomas C for their warm hospitality and support throughout the visit. The group later returned to Buxar, spiritually enriched by the day’s events.
