Regional Leadership Training Programme ’25 Opens at BIRDY, Hyderabad

Hyderabad, September 28, 2025 – The Regional Leadership Training Programme ’25 began yesterday, on 27 September, at BIRDY, Hyderabad, uniting enthusiastic youth leaders from across the Telugu region for a two-day journey of formation, fellowship, and faith.

Centred on the theme drawn from the words of Jesus, “I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd lays down his life for the sheep” (John 10:11), the programme opened with the arrival of participants, followed by breakfast and a formal inauguration ceremony in the morning, REXCO then conducted lively ice-breaking activities, setting the tone for collaboration and team spirit.

The first session featured inspiring talks, including “Youth Personality Development” by Dr. Madhu Akulapelly, Warangal CDC member, and “Impact of Mass Media in Skill Development and Career Guidance” by Mr. Srujan. REXCO kept the atmosphere energetic with action songs and animations, ensuring youth engagement throughout the day.

Later, Fr. Noel Maddhichetto, Rector of BIRDY, delivered a session on “Care for Our Common Home” as part of the Don Bosco LiFE initiative. Outdoor games and activities followed, allowing participants to build stronger bonds through recreation.

Last session of the day took on a reflective tone with a solemn celebration of Adoration and the Sacrament of Reconciliation, led by Fr. Jerome, DYD of Hyderabad. This was followed by Holy Mass on the theme “I am the Good Shepherd”, with His Excellency Vijay Kumar Rayarala PIME, Chairman Bishop of the Youth Commission, presiding as the main celebrant.

Participants showcased their cultural diversity during a vibrant Cultural Night, featuring diocese-wise performances. A spirited music band then lifted the mood, filling the venue with joy and energy. The first day concluded at night, with participants retiring for the night in anticipation of the next day’s programme.

Day Two of the Regional Leadership Training Programme promises to be equally enriching, with sessions on leadership in action, practical skill-building workshops, and interactive discussions. Participants will also engage in community-centred activities before the valedictory session, reaffirming their commitment to serve as responsible youth leaders in the Church and wider society.

Day One concluded successfully under the blessings and guidance of His Excellency Vijay Kumar Rayarala PIME, Chairman Bishop of the Youth Commission.
