Red Week to Highlight Christian Persecution from November 15

Europe, October 19, 2026: Christians worldwide will observe Red Week from November 15 to 22 to raise awareness of the persecution of Christians and call for greater protection of religious freedom.

Organised annually by Aid to the Church in Need (ACN), the campaign will feature churches, monuments and public buildings illuminated in red to draw attention to threats faced by Christians in several countries.

Red Wednesday, observed on November 18 this year, will be a key event in the campaign. Christians are encouraged to wear red as a sign of solidarity with persecuted communities and to remember those killed for their faith.

Red symbolises the blood of martyrs and the suffering of Christians who face persecution because of their religious beliefs.

The director of the Aid to the Church in Need Foundation in Portugal has called for greater public awareness of the suffering of millions of Christians worldwide, warning against indifference to their plight.

Red Week is marked annually through prayer services and public awareness initiatives aimed at promoting religious freedom and supporting persecuted Christians.
