Pope Francis Shows Signs of Improvement, No Mechanical Ventilation Needed Last Night

Vatican, 19 March, 2025: Pope Francis did not require mechanical ventilation last night, according to an update from the Holy See Press Office on Tuesday evening, March 18. The Pope continues to show slight improvements in his motor and respiratory functions.

The need for non-invasive mechanical ventilation at night and high-flow oxygen therapy during the day continues to decrease.

Instead of mechanical ventilation, the Pope relied on high-flow oxygen last night. While encouraging, this marks a cautious step in the gradual reduction process.

The Holy Father spent the day undergoing treatments, praying, and doing some light work. He continues to follow his prescribed diet, which now includes solid food.

The next medical update is expected tomorrow evening.
