Pope Francis Has Quiet Night at Gemelli Hospital: Vatican

Rome, March 14, 2025— Pope Francis spent a quiet night at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital as he continues treatment for respiratory issues, the Holy See Press Office reported on Friday morning. The 87-year-old pontiff, who was admitted to the hospital on February 14, remains under medical supervision and alternates between non-invasive mechanical ventilation at night and high-flow oxygenation during the day.

On Thursday, the Pope marked the 12th anniversary of his election as head of the Catholic Church, celebrating the occasion with healthcare staff attending to him. Despite his hospitalisation, he has been following the annual Spiritual Exercises of the Roman Curia from the Paul VI Hall of the Vatican via video link. These exercises, led by Fr. Roberto Pasolini, OFM Cap., focus on the theme “The Hope of Eternal Life” and are set to conclude on Friday.

Another update on the condition of Pope Francis is expected from the Holy See Press Office on Friday evening.
