Cottolengo Sisters Honoured as St. Jude’s Church Women’s Cell, Bangalore, Celebrates Women’s Day

Bangalore, 14 March 2025 – Women’s Cell of St. Jude's Church, R T Nagar, Bangalore, marked International Women’s Day with a vibrant celebration on 8 March 2025, recognising the devotion, compassion, and dignity of women within the Church and society.


The event brought together parishioners, clergy, and dignitaries to acknowledge the invaluable role of women, both in contemporary society and throughout biblical history. 


A scripture reading from Proverbs 31:25 – “She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come” – set the tone for the gathering, underscoring the significance of women’s contributions to faith and community.


The celebration of the Holy Mass was presided over by Fr. Charles, Professor at St. Peter’s Seminary, with members of the Women’s Cell leading the scripture readings. A memorable moment of the event was the recognition of the Sisters of Cottolengo, honoured by Parish Priest Fr. Vinoo Fabian for their unwavering dedication and service.


The Cottolengo sisters are known for their provision of shelter and rehabilitation to the specially abled from all walks of life. Originating in Italy, its Founder established centres to offer refuge, care, and education to the poor and disabled who were often marginalised by society. Carrying forward this mission, they continue to serve with unwavering dedication, providing compassionate care, education, and spiritual support to those in need, embodying the values of mercy and selfless service.


The celebration served as an inspiration for future generations, reaffirming the values of strength, dignity, and inclusivity that define the role of women in the Church and beyond.
