Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, July 15, 2025— Volunteers from Manav Vikas Samiti, the Social Work Commission of the Simla-Chandigarh Diocese, and Caritas India distributed emergency relief aid on July 14 to 210 families in the Thunag and Jangeli areas of Mandi district in Himachal Pradesh, who were severely affected by last week’s devastating cloudbursts. The relief operation was carried out under the leadership of Fr. Lenin Henry, Director of Manav Vikas Samiti, and focused on supporting the families most impacted by the natural disaster.
Volunteers from Manav Vikas Samiti and Caritas India closely collaborated with local authorities and army personnel to deliver aid packages, despite harsh weather conditions. These packages included blankets, mattresses, torches, sanitary items, and toiletries—basic necessities to help families cope with the immediate aftermath of the calamity.
Grateful residents thanked the volunteers of both organisations for their timely and generous assistance.
“This is a time to stand together in solidarity with those who have lost so much,” Fr. Lenin Henry emphasised. He expressed his gratitude to everyone who supported the relief mission and invited like-minded individuals and organisations to join in "supporting the needy and rebuilding lives".
