Rome, October 9, 2024: Pilgrims worldwide can now register for pilgrimages to the Holy Doors of Rome's four Papal Basilicas, marking the Jubilee Year of 2025. The Holy Doors at St. Peter's Basilica, St. John Lateran, St. Mary Major, and St. Paul’s Outside the Walls will be open throughout the Holy Year, allowing Catholics to pass through them as part of their spiritual journey. Registration is available on the official Jubilee website, where pilgrims can select their preferred date and time for the pilgrimage.
The opening of the first Holy Door at St. Peter's Basilica on December 24, 2024, will mark the official beginning of the Jubilee Year. Pope Francis will then open the Holy Door at St. John Lateran on December 29, coinciding with the Basilica’s 1700 anniversary of its dedication. On January 1, 2025, during the Solemnity of Mary Most Holy, Mother of God, the Holy Door at St. Mary Major will be opened, followed by the opening of St. Paul’s Outside the Walls on January 5, 2025.
Pilgrims already registered for major Jubilee events can pass through the Holy Doors during these gatherings without separate booking. The Holy Doors of St. John Lateran, St. Mary Major, and St. Paul’s Outside the Walls will close by December 28, 2025, while St. Peter’s Holy Door will remain open until January 6, 2026.
