Over 1,200 Delegates Unite in Nagpur to Celebrate the Jubilee Year

Nagpur, 4 October, 2025: The Jubilee Gathering in Nagpur brought together over 1,200 delegates from the Dioceses of Nagpur, Amravati, Aurangabad, and Chanda to celebrate the Jubilee Year of Hope. Held on 2 October under the leadership of Archbishop Elias Gonsalves and in collaboration with the participating bishops, the event served as a milestone of unity, dialogue, and spiritual renewal for the Catholic community across the region.

The gathering was initiated by Archbishop Elias Gonsalves of Nagpur, who delivered the Keynote Address, and organised in close partnership with Bishop Malcom Sequeira of Amravati, who inaugurated the event with a formal address. The occasion also welcomed Bishop Lancy Pinto of Aurangabad, who facilitated the Group Discussion Animation, and Bishop Ephrem of Chanda, who presented the final Report, reflecting the spirit of regional solidarity and shared mission.

A key feature of the gathering was a dynamic symposium and panel discussion that included perspectives from various walks of Church life, offering insights on the Synodal Path from the laity, reflections from religious men and women, and contributions from the youth.

The youth of the Archdiocese played a pivotal role in managing the day’s logistics and activities, demonstrating the energy and hope of the next generation. Their active participation contributed to the smooth execution of the event. Adding a vibrant cultural note, the Diocese of Amravati officially released the Jubilee Song in Marathi during the gathering, marking a memorable milestone in the celebrations.

The symposium emphasised Synodal Spirituality through congregation-wide discussions and personal reflections, highlighting the theme of journeying together as Pilgrims of Hope, and the event concluded with a solemn Holy Mass, uniting all delegates in thanksgiving and prayer. The seamless execution of the gathering was overseen by the Jubilee Coordinator, Fr. Vivian Lobo, with support from other clergy, reflecting the strength of collective leadership and collaboration in faith.
