Nurturing Harmony: Parents Attend Orientation on Interreligious Co-Living and Modern Parenting

Karnataka, July 26, 2025 : St. Anthony's Primary School, under the dynamic initiatives of the Bethany Institution, hosted a well-received parents’ orientation programme on 27 July 2025, focusing on Interreligious Co-Living and Modern Parenting for Wholistic Growth of Children. The event featured Fr. Vinay Kumar, Karnataka Regional Secretary for Liturgy and Interreligious Dialogue Commissions, as the keynote resource person.

The day began with a warm welcome from Sr. Sevarine, Headmistress of the school, who outlined the objective of the gathering — to support parents in fostering well-rounded development in their children through inclusive and value-based parenting.

The reflective atmosphere was set by a prayer led by Mrs. Shine and a Scripture reading by Sr. Sowmya. This spiritual opening helped frame the deeper discussions that followed.

Sr. Pavithra formally introduced Fr. Vinay Kumar, whose presentation offered parents valuable insights into the challenges and responsibilities of modern parenting. He urged parents to go beyond academic achievements and focus on nurturing their children's emotional, spiritual, and intellectual dimensions for holistic development.

Fr. Kumar strongly emphasised the significance of interreligious co-living. He encouraged parents to instil respect for all faiths in their children from an early age, thus laying the foundation for a harmonious and inclusive society.

An engaging interactive session followed the main talk. Mr. Akash posed thoughtful questions, which Fr. Kumar addressed with clarity and depth, offering practical and meaningful perspectives that resonated with many in the audience.

The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by the Headmistress of St. Anthony’s High School, who expressed gratitude to Fr. Vinay Kumar for his inspiring message and to all attendees for their active participation.

With approximately 350 parents in attendance, the orientation reflected a strong commitment within the school community to foster a generation grounded in respect, empathy, and holistic growth.
