Mysore, December 14, 2025 — Stressing that every child is precious in the eyes of God and a living message of Christmas, Bishop Francis Serrao SJ of Mysore called for greater love, respect and inclusion of special children while addressing a Christmas celebration organised by the Mysore Diocesan Commission for Health and the Specially Abled on December 13 at St. Joseph’s College of Nursing, Bannimantap.
The programme was attended by Emeritus Bishop Thomas Antony Vazhapilly, Estelle D’Souza, Regional Secretary of the college, along with priests, religious, volunteers, parents and well-wishers.
The celebration opened with a prayer service, followed by cultural performances by special children and students from participating institutions. The performances showcased the children’s talents, confidence and joy, earning warm appreciation from those present.
In her address, Estelle D’Souza said every child is uniquely created by God and encouraged the children to trust in their strength and purpose. She affirmed that they are loved, valued and never alone.
Describing special children and their parents as a living reflection of faith, courage and love, Bishop Serrao said their lives convey the true spirit of Christmas more powerfully than words.
The programme concluded with the distribution of prizes and Christmas gifts, followed by refreshments. The celebration brought joy to the children and their families, reinforcing the message that Christmas is a time of shared hope, belonging and dignity for every life.
