Miao Diocese Schools Prepare for New Arunachal Regulations

Tinsukia, Miao, September 26: Around 20 principals and headmistresses of schools run by the Miao Diocese under Newman Educational Society gathered at Light House, Tinsukia, on September 26 to familiarise themselves with the new School Regulation Rules of the Government of Arunachal Pradesh, 2026.

The regulations, introduced on August 7, replace the earlier rules governing private aided and unaided schools in the state. The orientation focused on helping school administrators understand the new provisions and prepare their institutions for compliance.

Bishop George Pallipparambil SDB of Miao, addressing the gathering, urged school heads to view the regulations not as an additional administrative burden but as a framework for safeguarding students and staff.

“The new regulations should not be understood as an extra burden or merely as more paperwork. Rather, we should see them as a source of our safety,” Bishop George said.

He stressed that regulatory compliance should go hand in hand with quality education, identifying vigilance and preventive measures as essential to effective school administration.

“These two important aspects must always be kept in mind as we pursue our goal of providing quality education accessible to the people in the last villages of Arunachal Pradesh,” he said.

Fr. Shoby Simon, Secretary of Newman Educational Society, highlighted the responsibility of schools to provide safe, disciplined and supportive environments conducive to the holistic development of children. He urged school heads to integrate the new requirements into their regular administrative practices.

The orientation also provided an opportunity for participants to discuss the practical implications of the regulations and review existing school practices to identify areas requiring greater attention.

Sr. Jismaria of St. Savio School, Kanubari, said the regulations offered an opportunity to strengthen existing systems and create safer learning environments. Sr. Rincy of St. Mary’s School, Namsai, said the collective orientation would help school administrators better understand the requirements and review their practices.

Fr. Joseph, principal of Newman School, Neotan, stressed the need to translate the regulations into effective practices at the school level.

The programme reaffirmed Newman Educational Society’s commitment to quality education, student safety and accountable school administration, particularly in remote areas of Arunachal Pradesh.
