Major Archbishop Mar Raphael Thattil Celebrates 70th Birthday

Ernakulam, April 21, 2026: In a spirit of gratitude and joy, Fr. Raphael Thattil, the head of the Syro-Malabar Church, marked his 70th birthday on April 21, 2026, drawing warm wishes and prayers from clergy, religious, and faithful across the world.


Born on April 21, 1956, in Thrissur, Mar Raphael Thattil has dedicated his life to the service of the Church. Over the years, his journey has been shaped by pastoral commitment, leadership, and a deep concern for the spiritual growth of the faithful.


Before assuming his present role as Major Archbishop in 2024, he served in several key capacities within the Church. Notably, he was the Bishop of Shamshabad and had earlier undertaken important responsibilities in the Archdiocese of Thrissur, contributing significantly to ecclesial life and administration.


On the occasion of his 70th birthday, members of the Church, including bishops, priests, religious, and lay faithful, expressed their heartfelt greetings and assured him of their prayers.
