Kotkapura, Jalandhar, Hosts Diocesan Labour Day Jubilee and Feast of St. Joseph the Worker

Kotkapura, Jalandhar, 3 May, 2025 - Kotkapura Parish came alive with reverence and solidarity on 1 May 2025, as it hosted the Diocesan-level Labour Day Jubilee and the Feast of St. Joseph the Worker. Organised by Navjeevan Charitable Society, the social wing of the Diocese of Jalandhar, the event honoured the dignity of labour and celebrated the patron saint of workers.

The day began with a solemn Holy Mass, marking both International Labour Day and the Feast of St. Joseph the Worker. Parishioners offered prayers for the rights, protection, and wellbeing of all workers, drawing inspiration from the virtues of humility and diligence embodied by St. Joseph.

Following the Mass, Advocate Samuel Masih delivered an insightful seminar on Labour Law. He highlighted key legal protections for workers and stressed the importance of legal awareness. His engaging presentation empowered attendees with valuable knowledge about their rights.

Faithful from Abohar, Malout, Moga, and Sadak parishes joined the celebration, underscoring a shared commitment to justice and workers' welfare. The event was graced by clergy including Fr. Antony Joseph (Director, Navjeevan Charitable Society), Fr. Christopher SFX (Parish Priest, Jiato), Fr. Peter Shergill, and Fr. John Teja (Parish Priest, Kotkapura).

Special appreciation was extended to Fr. John Teja for his outstanding coordination and leadership, which ensured the event’s smooth execution.

Fr. Antony Joseph honoured all parishioners for their participation, followed by a joyful community lunch that fostered fellowship and unity.

The celebration served as a powerful reminder of the sanctity of work and the Church’s enduring commitment to the rights and dignity of labourers.
