Karnataka Youth Leaders Holds Regional Programme and Elects New Leadership in Mulki, Mangalore

Mangaluru, December 16, 2025 — The Karnataka regional unit of the Young Catholic Students and Young Students Movement (YCS/YSM) elected a new leadership team during its regional programme held at the Divine Call Centre, Mulki, on December 13–14.

The meeting, hosted by the Diocese of Udupi, brought together youth representatives from seven dioceses—Mangaluru, Udupi, Mysuru, Kalaburagi, Bengaluru, Shivamogga and Belagavi—to review organisational priorities and coordination across the state.

Alister Clinton Fernandes of Mangaluru was elected Regional President. The elections, conducted under the supervision of the Regional Youth Director and diocesan youth leadership of Udupi, also resulted in the formation of a new Regional Executive Council with members drawn from Bengaluru, Belagavi, Udupi, Shivamogga and Mysuru, assigned to key portfolios including student formation, social concerns, media and representation at regional and national levels.

During the programme, delegates held sessions on the structure and functioning of YCS/YSM, focusing on leadership formation and strengthening grassroots units. A regional council meeting chaired by the outgoing regional president reviewed ongoing initiatives and discussed measures to enhance the movement’s presence across Karnataka.

The programme concluded with a common Eucharistic celebration led by the diocesan YCS/YSM chaplain of Shivamogga, followed by the formal assumption of office by the newly elected team.
