Togan, Punjab, March 31, 2025 – The Commission for Women of the Simla-Chandigarh Diocese organised a one-day pilgrimage at the Church of Our Lady of Miracles, Togan, on Sunday, March 30, 2025. Held in celebration of the Jubilee of Women, the event brought together 500 women from across the region for a day of prayer, reflection, and spiritual renewal.
The day began with the participants being accorded a warm welcome by members of the Togan Parish team, who provided them with refreshments and time for preparation. The day’s spiritual journey commenced with the recitation of the Holy Rosary, led by members of the Chandigarh Deanery. This was followed by the Way of the Cross, conducted by members of the Patiala and Karnal Deaneries. The solemn prayers enabled participants to meditate on Christ’s passion, deepening their spiritual connection.
The highlight of the pilgrimage was the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, coordinated by the Simla Deanery. The Mass united the pilgrims in prayer and thanksgiving, reinforcing their faith and devotion.
Following the Eucharistic celebration, a felicitation ceremony was held to honour key figures from the diocese for their dedicated service. Rt. Rev. Dr. Ignatius Mascarenhas, Bishop of Simla-Chandigarh Diocese; Fr. Xavior, Spiritual Director of the Women’s Commission; Fr. Bibin, Parish Priest of Togan Parish; and Sr. Mary, Executive Secretary of the Diocesan Women’s Commission, were each presented with saplings as a token of appreciation.
A thanksgiving session, led by members of the Bathinda Deanery, expressed gratitude to all the individuals who contributed to the organising of the event. Following this, participants enjoyed a communal meal, fostering fellowship before departure. The Togan Parish team efficiently managed the concluding arrangements, ensuring a smooth end to the event.
The pilgrimage was a spiritually enriching experience, reinforcing the role of women in the diocese's faith and community life. Participants departed with renewed strength and a deeper sense of unity, looking forward to future gatherings that celebrate faith and devotion.
