Mysuru, Dec 27, 2025: Warmth and goodwill of the Christmas season were on display at an interfaith gathering held at the Immaculate Conception Church in the Ganjam area of Mysuru, where leaders from diverse religious and social backgrounds came together to celebrate unity and harmony.
Reflecting the city’s long tradition of peaceful coexistence, the programme brought multiple faith voices onto a shared platform. Prajnavantara Vedike convener C. S. Venkatesh said the joint celebration of Christmas underscored the pluralistic character of the region and the urgent need for peace in present times. He also extended Christmas greetings to Fr. John Shagai Pushparaja, Rector of the Abe Duba Church.
Speakers highlighted values that bind communities beyond religious identities. Samarpana Trust president K. S. Jayashankar noted that humanity transcends religious differences, while Muslim Souharda Vedike secretary Abdul Sukkur said harmony and mutual respect were essential to building a strong and inclusive India.
Human rights activist Prasanna Palahalli stressed the importance of safeguarding every individual’s right to practise their faith and nurturing mutual respect in society.
Several community leaders and activists, including former Indian Buddhist Mahasabha president K. T. Rangappa, N. Saraswathi, Chikka Tammegouda, Dasamsa Nanjunda Maurya, K. Shettalli Appaji and Srinivas, were present, reinforcing a message of shared celebration and social unity.
