Infant Jesus Shrine in Jabalpur Elevated to Regional Shrine During Balak Yesu Mahotsav

Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, October 28, 2025 — The 28th Balak Yesu Mahotsav marked a historic moment for the Diocese of Jabalpur as the Infant Jesus Shrine was officially declared a Regional Level Shrine for the Madhya Pradesh region. The ten-day celebration, held from October 16 to 26, drew devotees from across the state, highlighting its growing spiritual prominence.

The feast day celebration featured Holy Adoration followed by a solemn Holy Mass, presided over by Archbishop A.A.S. Durairaj SVD of Bhopal, and concelebrated by Bishop Valan Arasu of Jabalpur and Bishop Emeritus Gerald. In his sermon, Archbishop Durairaj reflected on the biblical honour given to the Infant Jesus, noting that He was first glorified by angels, shepherds and the wise men.

The declaration of the Shrine as a Regional Shrine was made by Archbishop Durairaj at the end of the Eucharistic celebration — a significant recognition of its spiritual impact and devotion among the faithful of Madhya Pradesh.
