Diocese of Belgaum Hosts Dance And Drama Competition on the Parables of Jesus

Hubli, 28 October, 2025 — The Diocese of Belgaum’s Commission for Basic Ecclesial Communities (BECs) organised a faith-filled Dance and Drama Competition on October 27 on the Parables of Jesus at St. Joseph’s Church, Keshwapur Campus, Hubli, hosted at the St. Mary’s School premises. The event saw 10 teams from the Hubli–Dharwad and Haveri Deaneries present creative performances that brought the Gospel parables to life with depth, clarity and imagination.

Bishop Derek Fernandes addressed the gathering, encouraging the youth to communicate the message of Christ in a way that “wins hearts more than prizes.” He emphasised the richness of the parables in Scripture and their enduring relevance for faith formation in today’s world.

Three judges evaluated the performances: Fr. Cyprian Fernandes OFM, Mrs Maggie, and Mr. Joseph Salu Fernandes, each bringing pastoral, social and artistic insight to the panel. The event was coordinated by Fr. Maxim D’Souza, Secretary of the BEC Commission, ensuring smooth and disciplined proceedings throughout.

Winners of the competition were St. Joseph’s PU College Dharwad ,Presentation High School, Dharwad and Fatima PU College, Hubli.
