RIYADH, October 22, 2026: An Indian national was among two people killed in an attack on Dammam airport in Saudi Arabia, while two other Indian nationals were injured, the Indian Embassy in Riyadh said.
The attack occurred late Wednesday, leaving eight people injured in total, according to Saudi authorities. The two fatalities were identified as Saudi and Indian nationals.
The Indian Embassy said it was coordinating with Saudi authorities to obtain further details and contact the affected families. It expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
Authorities are assessing the damage to the airport and the impact on civilian aviation operations.
The incident comes amid escalating regional tensions and reported attacks on Saudi infrastructure attributed to Yemen’s Houthi movement. The worsening security situation has raised concerns about the safety of civilian facilities and potential disruptions to air travel and energy supplies.
The escalation follows the breakdown of a prolonged truce in Yemen’s civil war, which pits the Iran-backed Houthis against the internationally recognised government, supported by a Saudi-led coalition. The conflict has repeatedly threatened regional security and maritime traffic along strategically important shipping routes.
The deaths and injuries have renewed concerns about the safety of Indian nationals living and working in the Gulf. The Indian Embassy said it was continuing its efforts to establish further details and assist those affected.
