March 6, 2026: Amid growing concern over ongoing wars and conflicts in various parts of the world, the Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) National Executive Committee organised a special Holy Rosary for World Peace on March 5, bringing together young Catholics in a spirit of prayer and solidarity.
The initiative sought to unite youth across the country in intercession for peace, healing and reconciliation among nations affected by violence and instability. Participants joined together to pray for an end to armed conflicts and remembered in a special way the innocent victims who continue to suffer due to war and displacement.
The prayer gathering was attended by Fr. Chetan Machado, Secretary of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India Youth Commission, along with Fr. John Barman, Associate Executive Secretary of the commission. Their presence encouraged the youth to deepen their commitment to prayer and to become active promoters of peace within society.
Members of the ICYM National Executive Committee led the Rosary, while Ishani Massey, ICYM’s Liturgical Secretary, guided the liturgy and coordinated the prayer service, fostering a reflective and prayerful atmosphere among participants.
During the Rosary, the youth reflected on the scriptural call to peace: “Turn away from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it” (Psalm 34:14). Inspired by this message, participants offered prayers for an end to violence across the world and lifted up special intentions for those who have lost their lives in conflicts, families torn apart by war, and communities facing displacement and hardship.
Prayers were also offered for world leaders, asking God to grant them wisdom and compassion so that dialogue and mutual understanding may prevail over hostility and division. The gathering highlighted the important role of young people in fostering reconciliation, unity and peace within their communities.
Entrusting the troubled world to God through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the youth expressed hope that sincere and united prayer can bring healing and lasting peace to nations in conflict.
The Rosary concluded with a collective prayer seeking God’s guidance for humanity and renewing the commitment of young Catholics to continue praying and working for peace in the world.
