Nashik, January 30, 2025 – Migrants from various backgrounds gathered at Holy Cross Church, Nashik, for a special event organized under the guidance of Fr. Neville Fernandes, Coordinator of the Migrants Commission, Nashik Diocese on January 19. The event, aimed at fostering community spirit and reflection, commenced with the Holy Eucharist, presided over by Bishop Barthol Barretto of Nashik Diocese.
Bishop Barthol delivered an insightful homily, emphasizing the significance of the Ordinary Jubilee Year 2025 and its profound relevance to the lives of migrants. He highlighted the themes of faith, resilience, and hope, encouraging the attendees to embrace the jubilee year with renewed strength.
Following the Eucharistic celebration, Fr. Praful Ekka SJ (BOM) led a thought-provoking presentation on “Pilgrims of Hope.” He explored the meaning of pilgrimage in the modern era, reflecting on identity, aspirations, and the role of hope in challenging times. The engaging session sparked deep discussions among the participants.
Fr. Praful Ekka SJ then facilitated an interactive game session, fostering camaraderie and breaking the ice among the attendees. The event continued with group discussions, where each group deliberated on two thought-provoking questions. Participants shared their insights and experiences, actively engaging in meaningful conversations before presenting their reflections.
The gathering concluded with a community dinner, offering migrants a chance to bond and socialize. Mr. Joseph Kujur delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the event. The gathering provided a much-needed platform for migrants to come together, share their experiences, and find hope and solace in their journeys.
