“One of the most touching moments for me,” he said, “is when they show Mary Magdalene’s childhood, and how a verse from Isaiah stays with her—guiding her even when she strays from God as an adult.” Fr. Christopher shared that he has watched this single episode eight times, each time drawing fresh spiritual insight and emotional connection.

Quoting Isaiah 43:1, he reflected on its personal and powerful message:

“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.”

“This Scripture isn’t just a verse—it becomes Mary’s identity,” he explained. “When Jesus meets her in her lowest moment, He doesn’t just heal her—He reminds her of who she truly is. He calls her by her name, which no one else knew. That moment captures the heart of the Gospel.”

Fr. Christopher also pointed to another compelling scene—when Matthew writes the Beatitudes as Jesus speaks. “The series shows how each Beatitude resonates with the real-life experiences of the apostles. That’s what makes it so enriching,” he noted.

He added, “Everyone knows it’s not a hundred percent out of Scripture, but the way it is presented gives the message a deep emotional and spiritual meaning. It invites viewers to see the Gospel through a very relatable lens.”

Describing The Chosen as “deeply moving,” Fr. Christopher urged Catholics to watch it with an open heart. “Let Jesus speak to your heart the way He spoke to Mary Magdalene,” he said. “We may forget who we are—but God never does. He still calls us by name."
